On arrival in Paris, meet your host, Australian born Jane Webster, author of ‘At My French Table’. Jane owns and operates Chateau Bosgouet and is known for her love of, and skill in, preparing French country cuisine. Travel by coach to Rouen and on to Chateau Bosgouet. Here, enjoy afternoon tea before exploring the property. Later, enjoy apéritifs and an open bar including some amazing French Champagne. Following hors d’oeuvres, enjoy dinner in the chateau’s magnificent dining room.

Enjoy a delicious French breakfast, Chateau Bosgouet-style. Then set out for your discovery of Rouen, through Julie Child’s eyes. Visit the market, located at the Vieux Marche where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake. Lunch today is at a restaurant where Julia’s husband, Paul, took her for one of her first tastes of proper French cuisine. After a wonderful dinner at Chateau Bosgouet this evening, watch the movie ‘Julie and Julia’.

After another Chateau Bosgouet breakfast, depart for Paris. Check in to a beautiful boutique hotel on the left bank, near St Germain and the Latin Quarter, the hotel in which Julia and Paul stayed when they first arrived in Paris. After settling in, there will be time to visit some of Julia Child’s favourite haunts, followed by dinner at the incredible Laperouse.

This morning undertake a very important Julia Child adventure, a class at the famous Le Cordon Bleu cooking school, founded in 1895. It was here that Julia developed her passion as a French cook and realised her competitive nature. Lunch will be at a Parisian brasserie often frequented by Julia and Paul. After lunch, visit Julia’s favourite kitchenware store and browse through the amazing selection of kitchenware. Dinner tonight is at Brasserie Lipp.

Breakfast will be a special affair this morning in another of Julia and Paul’s preferred places. After, visit one of Julia’s favourite bookshops, Shakespeare and Company. Tonight, dine at a favourite restaurant of Julia and Paul. Le Grand Vefour is a contender for the title of most beautiful restaurant in Paris and Guy Martin’s blend of sophistication and rusticity will unfold many French delicacies.

Today visit Marche aux Puces St Ouen. Also referred to as Clignancourt, this market is an amazing century old labyrinth of alleyways packed with kitchenware, antiques and other treasures. Julia had many trips here looking for gems to assist her cooking.

Journey through the French countryside on a high speed TGV train, in first class service, to Marseilles. On arrival, check into your charming hotel and enjoy a walking tour of the city. Dinner tonight will be at a famous Michelin star restaurant.

Explore more of Julia Child’s favourite places in Marseilles before a farewell luncheon at the beautiful port. You may then choose to depart the tour in Marseilles or travel with Jane back to Paris on the TGV train this afternoon.

Julia Child was an American housewife who became a celebrated chef, television personality and author of many cookbooks. It was while living as an expatriate in France with her husband Paul that she learnt to cook by attending the then male dominated Le Cordon Bleu cooking school.
