Day 1. Sydney, Coffs Harbour

Upon arrival in Sydney be met at the airport by an APT representative. From here, board a coach bound for Coffs Harbour on the New South Wales Central Coast. As you journey along the coast admire the golden beaches that stretch on for miles and the stunning turquoise waters stretching out to the horizon. On arrival in Coffs Harbour this evening, settle in to your hotel, then gather for a Welcome Dinner and Drinks, the perfect opportunity to get to know your Tour Director and fellow travellers.

Day 2. Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Brisbane

Visit bohemian Byron Bay with its artists’ community and unspoilt beaches. It’s also home to Cape Byron, the most easterly point of the Australian mainland. After some time here to explore, head for the beautiful Gold Coast where there are 35 miles of clear waters and fine golden sand. Then travel to Brisbane, located on the banks of the Brisbane River and the capital of Queensland, for a sightseeing tour. Brisbane’s mix of old and new architecture, tropical climate and historical heritage gives it a laid-back appeal.

Day 3. Australia Zoo, Sunshine Coast, Cruise to Fraser Island

Visit Australia Zoo, made famous by the late Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. Home to a large variety of wildlife, the zoo’s biggest attraction is, of course, crocodiles. Watch these animals feeding, lazing in the sun or ‘having a go’ at the keepers. Then pass the Sunshine Coast and join a cruise from Hervey Bay, a great place to see migrating whales (seasonal), to World Heritage-listed Fraser Island.

Day 4. Fraser Island, Freedom of Choice Touring, Bush Tucker Talk and BBQ

Today you might like to rise early for an escorted birdwatching walk through native bushland (own expense). Later, thanks to our Freedom of Choice Touring concept, you have the choice of two touring activities; a 4WD adventure on the island or a Humpback whale watching cruise (Aug.-Oct.). Tonight, enjoy a Bush Tucker Talk before a delicious BBQ dinner, including kangaroo, crocodile and prawns.

Day 5. Rockhampton, Botanic Gardens

Farewell Fraser Island and travel to Rockhampton, where you’ll visit the Botanic Gardens and Australia’s longest National Trust-classified street, Quay Street.

Day 6. Henderson Park, Airlie Beach, Whitsunday Cruise to Hamilton Island

Visit Henderson Park to learn of life on a working cattle station. Then cruise to Hamilton Island.

Day 7. Hamilton Island, Day at Leisure, Dine Around Dinner

Today is at leisure for you to relax and enjoy Hamilton Island. This evening, enjoy pre-dinner drinks before a Dine Around Dinner.

Day 8. Townsville, Mission Beach, Cruise to Dunk Island

Cruise back to the mainland and journey to Townsville, Australia’s largest tropical city. From Mission Beach, cruise to Dunk Island, a tropical haven.

Stay: Two Nights: Dunk Island Resort, in a Garden Room

Day 9. At Leisure on Dunk Island

After a delicious breakfast, enjoy the entire day at leisure to relax at the resort or explore the nearby reef and rainforest. You could start the day with a rainforest walk and take in the spectacular views from the summit of Mt Kootaloo. Or perhaps you could discover the vibrant marine wonders of the Great Barrier Reef (own expense).

Day 10. Atherton Tablelands, Port Douglas, Dine Around Dinner

This morning, tour the lush Atherton Tablelands and stroll the Mamu Rainforest Canopy Walk. Join a wildlife cruise at Lake Barrine and visit Millaa Millaa Falls and the Curtain Fig Tree. Tonight choose your Dine Around Dinner option.

Day 11. Port Douglas, Freedom of Choice Touring

Today, you’ll enjoy the opportunity to choose from our Freedom of Choice Touring options. Perhaps take a cruise aboard the ‘Wavepiercer’ and snorkel on the reef. Or you may like to visit the Low Isles aboard the ‘Wavedancer’ and experience an unspoilt coral island. For those seeking a diving adventure, the ‘Silversonic’ offers a fabulous reef discovery.

Stay: Two Nights: The Sebel Cairns

Day 12. Cairns, Kuranda

Journey aboard the Kuranda Scenic Railway up to Rainforestation where you will see a performance by the Pamagirri Aboriginal Dancers. Later traverse the Kuranda Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, and glide above the rainforest canopy. This evening enjoy a special Farewell Dinner and Drinks with your crew and tour group.

Day 13. Depart Cairns

The morning is yours at leisure before your afternoon transfer to Cairns Airport for your flight home.
