Considered one of the world’s truly global cities and also the largest city in Switzerland, Zürich has experienced a creative explosion in recent years. Upon arrival here, you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel, with the remainder of the day yours at leisure to relax or perhaps familiarise yourself with this bustling Swiss city. Zürich is home to a range of innovative bars, restaurants and shops just waiting to be discovered. Later tonight, get to know your fellow travellers at a Welcome Reception at the hotel.
Stay: Stay: Zürich, Hotel Schweizerhof
Today take a tour of Zürich, including such sights as the famous commercial centre, the Old Town, Fraumünster Church with its famous Chagall windows, historical Limmatquai and the University District. You’ll also stop at Zürich City Hall, Grossmünster Church, St Peter’s Church and more. Following lunch at leisure, take the short journey to Lucerne, situated on the shores of Lake Lucerne and within sight of spectacular Mt Pilatus and Mt Rigi. Upon arrival here, take an orientation tour that includes a look at the intricate Löwendenkmal (Lion Monument), carved as a tribute to the hundreds of Swiss Guards who died in 1792 during the French Revolution. You’ll also walk across Mill Bridge, constructed in 1408 and today the oldest covered bridge in Europe, featuring a series of medieval-style 17th century plaque paintings. Later tonight, enjoy a Welcome Dinner.

After breakfast this morning, board the coach and travel from Lucerne to the neighbouring mountain resort town of Engelberg. Here, enjoy a brief tour taking in Engelberg Abbey and much more. Then enjoy the truly breathtaking opportunity to ride the cable car from the town, over the scenic mountain landscape and up to Mt Titlis. Following lunch, you’ll return to Lucerne and enjoy the rest of this afternoon at leisure to relax or explore as you please.

Today travel into the Swiss Alps to the municipality of Andermatt and board the Glacier Express for a rail journey known to be one of Europe’s most scenic. A high-speed train that travels at a deliberately slow pace, this three-hour journey allows ample time to absorb the scenery outside your panoramic windows. Cross bridges and viaducts, travel through tunnels and marvel at the alpine landscapes, snow-capped mountains, lush green valleys, picturesque villages and castles. Arrive in Zermatt and check in to your hotel, before a delicious dinner tonight.

Situated at the northern base of the famous mountain, the Matterhorn, Zermatt is a truly pristine place. Electric cars and horse-drawn sleighs and carriages are the only transport permitted here, ensuring that the alpine air is exceptionally clean. This morning, visit the Matterhorn Museum and ride a cable car to the summit of the Matterhorn for breathtaking views. Then, with the afternoon at leisure, perhaps ride a horse-drawn carriage, go for a nature walk or just relax in this pristine place.

Today return by cog-wheel train to nearby Täsch then board your coach for the journey to the Italian Lakes District. Here, take a cruise on the tranquil waters of Lake Como. Thanks to its mountainous backdrop as well as the charming villas and towns sitting on its banks, Lake Como is one of Italy’s most romantic attractions. Later, return to Switzerland and arrive in Lugano.

After breakfast, head for the historically rich town of Bellinzona. Ride a lift from Piazza Del Sole to Castelgrande, before visiting the Castello De Montebello. Having visited two of Bellinzona’s World Heritage-listed castles, travel to St Moritz. On arrival here, check in to your hotel and enjoy time at leisure before dinner tonight.

Considered the oldest and one of the most famous winter resorts in the world St Moritz enjoys over 300 days of sunshine a year thanks to its prime location. Take a brief tour of this resort area before it’s time to farewell the grand natural landscapes of Switzerland. Travel to the fascinating country of Liechtenstein, geographically the sixth smallest nation in the world. A constitutional monarchy, Liechtenstein follows a policy of neutrality and is one of few countries in the world that maintains no military. Enjoy a look around this unique destination, then continue to the Austrian city of Innsbruck. Tonight, you’ll be treated to a dinner of Austrian specialities before the evening is at your leisure.

After breakfast today, you’ll be taken to the renowned Swarovski Innsbruck, a famous shop that presents an array of crystal products comprising design objects, décor, jewellery and fashion. Here, you’ll also enjoy a visit to the Winter Wonderland, a large, magically artistic and sparkling crystal exhibition that showcases the endless creative possibilities of crystal. Afterwards, journey to the Bergisel Ski Jump, which was used during two separate Winter Olympics. Here, you’ll ride a cable car to the bottom of the ski-jump, then take a lift up to the visitor’s platform where you have an incredible view over the city of Innsbruck and of the surrounding mountains. This afternoon, return to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure to relax or further explore Innsbruck as you choose.

Still in Austria, travel to the famously picturesque city of Salzburg. After checking in to your hotel, the afternoon is yours to spend at leisure. This evening, enjoy the opportunity to indulge in a special cultural dining experience at the Stiftskeller St Peter. Dine on a range of Austrian specialities as the music of Mozart is played.

This morning, tour Salzburg’s World Heritage listed Old Town, one of the best preserved city centres in the German speaking world.
